The heartbroken family of a young woman who was killed in the NSW Hunter Valley have paid tribute to the 20-year-old’s “beautiful spirit”.
Summer Fleming’s 31-year-old boyfriend Jethro Gamueda appeared in Parramatta’s Bail Court today, charged with her murder.
Fleming was found dead at Gamueda’s Rutherford home yesterday after suffering facial injuries.
Gamueda was arrested and charged with her murder.
The couple had been together for just more than a year, having met while working together at Rydges in the Hunter Valley.
Fleming’s sister Ash Heggie-Martin told 9News “she was just a beautiful spirit”.
“She’s just one of a kind,” Heggie-Martin said.
“No person deserves to die like that, especially such a beautiful young soul.”
Summer, who dreamed of becoming a nurse, is now one of dozens of women allegedly killed at the hands of their partner already this year.
Her name was today added to the She Matters Mural in Melbourne.
Gamueda made no application for bail in court and will remain in custody until his next court appearance in October.
