Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory are on alert as thunderstorms bringing heavy rain and a significant risk of flash flooding are forecasted. The areas most affected include East Gippsland, the southeastern corner of New South Wales, and regions along the state’s northern slopes and ranges.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM), the current dryness of the catchments could lead to minor flooding despite the recent and incoming rain.
Remnants of the weather system known as Koji are predicted to cause additional localised heavy rainfall and flash flooding from the Gulf Country to the Central Coast on Thursday. The region can expect thunderstorm-induced downpours to persist into Friday.
