A man is preparing to appear in court following charges related to a suspected fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred in Sydney’s north-west last week.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, emergency services were dispatched to Old Kurrajong Road in Richmond. This response was prompted by a passerby who discovered a man lying roughly three meters from the roadway.

The concerned motorist provided aid to the 23-year-old victim until paramedics arrived; tragically, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Law enforcement officers quickly established a crime scene, enlisting specialist police to conduct a thorough investigation. Their findings suggested that the victim had been struck by a vehicle that allegedly failed to stop after the collision.

Roughly an hour following the initial incident, police responded to a separate report involving a Nissan Navara utility. This vehicle had reportedly veered off Kurmond Road in North Richmond, crashing into the surrounding bushland.

A 41-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries before being taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory assessment.

A secondary crime scene was established at the paddock, and the vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

Following further inquiries, at around 5.45pm yesterday, officers arrested a 41-year-old man at an address in McGraths Hill.

He was taken to Windsor Police Station, where he was charged with multiple offences, including driving under the influence of alcohol, negligent driving occasioning death and failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death.

He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.
