A teenage boy in Sydney could face 15 years behind bars after being charged with several terrorism offences.
Police will allege the boy, aged 16, held a “mixed ideology plan” and had plans to carry out acts of violence after analysing extremist material found on a computer he allegedly owned.

Authorities launched an investigation into a young individual last year after a police raid on a residence in the Inner West uncovered a gel blaster and a flick knife.

The youth was initially apprehended and faced charges for possessing an unauthorized pistol and a prohibited weapon without a permit. Bail was granted for these offenses.

However, following the discovery of alleged extremist content, officials have pressed additional charges against the boy.

The new charges include one count of collecting documents intended to facilitate a terrorist act, two counts of creating documents likely to assist a terrorist act, and two counts of possessing violent extremist material.

The boy will face NSW Children’s Court today.
