A Brisbane woman who was run over by her own car as it was allegedly stolen by a group of teens has told of her disappointment after charges were dropped against one of them due to a lack of evidence.

Emma Trillo and her partner were abruptly awakened by a commotion at their Ascot residence around 4:30 a.m. on September 10 of last year. During the chaos, Trillo was struck by her own black BMW, sustaining fractures to her hip, pelvis, and spine.

Today, all charges against 18-year-old Leo Angelo Matar, who was linked to the alleged incident, have been dismissed.

During an earlier bail hearing, it was revealed that the prosecution’s case predominantly hinged on a small photo, roughly the size of a thumbnail, purportedly depicting Matar alongside two teenagers on the day the events transpired.

The two teenagers, both 16 years old, still face charges concerning the incident.

“The system has truly failed us in this situation,” expressed Trillo.

“My bones have healed, but soft tissue injuries are still in play. I’m still seeing physio.

“Still to this day, we have trouble sleeping of an evening.”

Matar’s father David Sandford, said the family was relieved.

“We just want to get him recovered. We just wanna get him back on the track,” he said.
