Burleigh Heads pedestrian killed by ute overnight in Queensland

A pedestrian has died after he was hit by a ute on the Gold Coast overnight.

The 41-year-old man was walking near the corner of Reedy Creeks Road and Mattocks Road, Burleigh Heads, around 11pm yesterday.

Queensland Police said a ute was travelling east when the Nerang local was hit.

Despite emergency crews attempting to revive the man, he was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the ute, a 30-year-old Burleigh Heads man, is assisting police with their investigation.

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit has taken over the investigation and any witness or someone who may have dashcam footage that will help with police queries is urged to contact CrimeStoppers on 131 444.

A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
