A man from Western Australia is due in court today following charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing a Commonwealth official at Perth Airport on the previous day.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) were alerted by an airline regarding a passenger reportedly causing a commotion in the airport’s domestic terminal.

Upon engaging with the individual, officers claimed he became confrontational and hostile, leading to his subsequent arrest.

AFP Superintendent Peter Hatch emphasized the agency’s dedication to ensuring the safety of both the public and airline personnel.

“The AFP has zero tolerance for antisocial or aggressive behavior directed at the public or police officers. We collaborate closely with airline industry partners to address such actions and ensure individuals face legal consequences if their behavior is allegedly unlawful,” Hatch stated.

The man allegedly repeatedly grabbed AFP officers’ wrists while they attempted to search him and allegedly behaved in a threatening manner towards them.

He was later charged with disorderly conduct in a public place and one count of obstructing a Commonwealth official.

The man is set to face the Perth Magistrates Court.
