Nearly three months after an initial arrest, a man faces charges related to an alleged hit-and-run incident in Sydney’s north-west.
Fifty-one-year-old Dean Lovell was discovered dead on Springwood Road in Yarramundi, near Richmond, around 11:30 p.m. on August 11.
Speaking to 9News the day after the incident, Lovell’s family described him as “a wonderful man who loved his life and his animals,” expressing heartbreak that the driver had “left an amazing person alone to die.”
On the night of the incident, authorities located a damaged black 2005 Ford Fiesta approximately 15 kilometers south in Glenbrook. They subsequently set up a crime scene and impounded the vehicle for further investigation.
Two days following the crash, on August 14, police apprehended a 39-year-old man in Lithgow. He was released after questioning but remained under investigation as inquiries continued.
About 4.30pm this Monday, they arrested the same man again in nearby Cranebrook and took him to Windsor police station.
He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death and refused bail to appear in Penrith Local Court on Tuesday.
