A 10-year-old child is among 15 people killed by two gunmen at Bondi Beach on Sunday afternoon.
Family and friends are paying tribute to victims of the shooting rampage targeting the Jewish community celebrating the first day of Hanukkah.

While official identification by the NSW Police has not been released, certain family members have permitted the sharing of information regarding the victims.

“I adored my niece so deeply; it’s unimaginable that she’s no longer with us,” expressed a grieving family member.

The youngest victim, 10-year-old Matilda, died in hospital after being shot.
Her aunt Lina has described Matilda as a happy child who smiled, was friendly and enjoyed life.

“He dedicated countless hours as a volunteer and was considered one of the foundational figures at Randwick Rugby,” another statement noted.

Meagher was a retired police officer and a much-loved figure at Randwick Rugby Club, the club has said in a tribute to “Marzo”.
In a statement, general manager Mark Harrison said Meagher, first grade team manager and volunteer at the club, was working as a freelance photographer at the Hanukkah event on Sunday.
The club’s home ground is in the beachside suburb of Coogee, about 4km south of Bondi Beach.
Harrison described Meagher as an “absolute legend in our club”.

“With decades of voluntary involvement, he was one of the heart and soul figures of Randwick Rugby.”

“The Meagher family are absolute royalty in our club, with Marzo following in the giant Myrtle Green footsteps of his grandfather — the legendary Wally Meahger — and his father Ron who was a former Club President,” Harrison said.

He noted that Meagher served for almost four decades in the NSW Police Force and retired as a detective sergeant. He was also a long-term referee in Sydney club rugby.
“The tragic irony is that he spent so long in the dangerous front line as a police officer and was struck down in retirement while taking photos in his passion role is really hard to comprehend.

“Our deepest condolences go to his wife Virginia, his brothers Greg, David, Andrew and Paul, their extended families and mountain of friends across Randwick Rugby, NSW Police, Sydney Rugby Referees and our local community.”

Dan Elkayam

French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed Elkayam was among those killed at Bondi Beach.
Rockdale Ilinden FC, based in Sydney’s south, paid tribute to the Premier League 1 footballer and said he was an integral squad member.

“[He] was an extremely talented and popular figure among teammates,” the club said in a Facebook post.

Rabbi Feivel (Eli) Schlanger

Schlanger was among those killed in the attack, his cousin, Rabbi Zalman Lewis wrote on Instagram.
“He leaves behind his wife & young children, as well as my uncle & aunt & siblings,” Lewis, who is based in the United Kingdom, posted.

“He was truly an incredible guy.”

Schlanger’s brother-in-law, Rabbi Mandel Kastel, told SBS News the news was “devastating” and “shattering”.
“He was warm, he was engaging, he was interesting, he was curious about people,” he said of his relative.
Schlanger had worked as a chaplain for Corrective Services NSW since 2022, according to the department.
