Daniel Bedingfield looked worlds away from his fresh-faced pop star days when he sported a new look on Instagram to promote some new music.

The noughties icon, 45, who shot to fame during the 2000s with hits such as Gotta Get Thru This, took to Instagram on Thursday to show off his ‘glow up’.

Starting a ‘transformation challenge’, he filmed himself initially bare-faced bopping his head to the new tune before revealing the striking new look.

He sported a full face of neon face paints featuring some striking pink, white and light blue patterns for the avant-garde glam.

Matching his face paint with an eye-catching outfit, he further enhanced the look with some crimson 80s-style blusher and a black smoky eye shadow.

Daniel seemed in good spirits for his latest post on social media as he danced along to the groovy new tune.

The New Zealand-born singer became a household name in the early 2000s after capitalising on the rise of UK garage.

He released a string of hit singles that included two number ones and a bestselling debut album named after his first hit.

One of his biggest songs, Gotta Get Thru this, sits on 12 million views on YouTube after becoming a club anthem following its 2002 release.

Daniel however famously took a long break from his career following a car crash in his home country in 2004 which almost proved fatal.

While lying in a hospital bed later that year, the artist won a Brit for British male solo artist.

During an appearance on Loose Women last year, the 45-year-old opened up about his break, saying: ‘I’ve done farming … homesteading, like chickens and bees and fruit trees and food, forests and ecological stuff, you know, regenerative stuff.’

Adding: ‘If you keep manifesting what you know, you’re just going to keep living what you’ve had, so I thought I should rest completely.

‘I moved to a wildly different culture, LA, oh, my gosh, and completely reimagined what I wanted for my life.

‘And I’ve just sat with, what do I want this next part of my life to be like? So now I’ve come to some conclusions. Now, I’m ready to try this again.’

The interview came after Dan sensationally announced a surprise tour last year to celebrate 20 years since Gotta Get Thru This, his debut single.

With fans excited to be able to relive some core memories from the noughties, Dan performed three shows during the tour, which was his first since 2005.

He has however continued performing since and is set for a series of shows this summer.

Daniel will begin his festival run on Friday at In It Together in Wales, before performing in Brighton, Cheltenham, London and Cumbria.
