Australia’s beloved and enduring foreign affairs program, SBS Dateline, is set to make its much-anticipated return on Tuesday, March 3, at 9:30 pm AEDT, available on SBS and SBS On Demand. For decades, Dateline has been at the forefront of delivering in-depth international stories, and this season promises to uphold that tradition.

The premiere episode plunges into the intensifying situation surrounding immigration policies in the United States. Darren Mara, a dedicated Dateline reporter, takes viewers to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where tensions are high following the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti at the hands of federal agents. This episode provides an unflinching look at the impact of these events on the local Somali community, who live under the looming threat of deportation.

One poignant narrative focuses on a man who found himself in a direct confrontation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on the day of Renee Good’s tragic death. Through Mara’s lens, the episode also explores the broader community’s reactions, showcasing the spectrum from fervent protestors to vigilant neighborhood watch volunteers, each playing a unique role in a city grappling with federal immigration enforcement.

Don’t miss the compelling premiere, titled “ICE: America’s Turning Point?” airing live on Tuesday, March 3, at 9:30 pm AEDT on SBS and SBS On Demand. This episode sets the stage for a season that promises riveting storytelling and profound insights.

In the weeks to follow, the Dateline team will expand their globe-trotting journey, bringing stories from diverse locales such as Austria, Nepal, Colombia, Peru, and Scotland. Each episode promises a fresh perspective on the complex issues that define our world today.
