A member of a dog breeding group has been charged with assault over an alleged altercation at a Sydney terrier show.

It is understood the man and his dog breeder associates, who police describe as “notorious”, tried to get into an American Bull Terrier dog show in Castle Hill on May 3.

Police were told that the group had been banned from previous shows.

The suspect is accused of pushing an employee to enter the show ring, where he displayed a dog breeding banner.

When a female worker tried to remove the banner, the man allegedly got into a physical fight with her.

A short time later, the man and his associates left the event.

A 33-year-old man was arrested in Greenfield Park at 12pm yesterday.

The man was granted strict conditional bail and will appear in Fairfield Court on August 20.
