In a recent fiery critique, U.S. President Donald Trump has taken aim at Pope Leo, labeling him as “weak” on criminal issues and “terrible” regarding international relations. This outburst from Trump came after the Catholic leader openly criticized the President’s foreign and immigration policies.

Trump expressed his disdain on Monday through an extensive post on his Truth Social platform, stating, “Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime and terrible for Foreign Policy.”

Pope Leo, recognized for his measured speech, has become a vocal opponent of the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran, which erupted on February 28. His opposition has made headlines as he becomes more outspoken on this international issue.

Recently, the pope condemned Trump’s threat to “destroy Iranian civilization” as “unacceptable,” further fueling the tension between the two leaders.

This past Saturday, the 70-year-old pope made a public appeal to world leaders to cease hostilities, passionately declaring, “Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war!”

He has also called for “deep reflection” about the way migrants are being treated in the US under the Trump administration.

“Leo should get his act together as Pope,” Trump said in his post, later telling reporters he was not a “big fan” of the pontiff.

“I’m not a big fan of Pope Leo. He’s a very liberal person, and he’s a man that doesn’t believe in stopping crime,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, accusing the pontiff of “toying with a country that wants a nuclear weapon”.
