When shops will be open and closed this Easter around the country

Dashing to the shops for a quick pick-up becomes more complicated during the Easter long weekend, with supermarkets and big stores shutting down around the country.

It’s best to shop early and be prepared, but that can be difficult with different shops shutting at different times depending on where you are in the country.

Here’s what you need to know about when and where you can shop.

What’s open on Good Friday?

Woolworths confirmed it would close stores around the country on Good Friday, April 18 – with some exceptions.

Those exceptions include the stores at Brisbane Airport in Queensland; Mount Barker, Mount Barker South, and Murray Bridge Marketplace Victor Harbor in South Australia; Dunsborough, Perth Airport, Eaton Fair, Margaret River, Busselton, and Dalyellup in Western Australia.

Coles will close all its stores except for those at Victor Harbor, Murray Bridge Green, and Mount Barker in South Australia.

Bunnings and Aldi stores will be shut for the day nationwide.

What’s open on Easter Saturday?

All Woolworths stores will reopen for Easter Saturday, except for several Metro outlets around the country.

Coles will likewise be open nationwide, though some stores will be operating with reduced trading hours.

Aldi and Bunnings stores will be open as well.

What’s open on Easter Sunday?

Aldi stores will all open in Victoria and Western Australia, but it will vary around the rest of the country. Some shops will open, some won’t.

Bunnings will also be open on Easter Sunday, though trading hours will be reduced in New South Wales.

Woolworths’ status will vary state to state. All stores will be open in Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, and Western Australia, with a couple of exceptions (Esperance in Western Australia, Moama in Victoria, Hervey Bay Pialba and some Metro stores in Queensland).

In NSW, the ACT, South Australia, and the Northern Territory, “a handful” of Woolies stores will open, with people encouraged to check the opening hours of their local outlet online.

Similarly, Coles stores will operate differently around the country.

Shops will be closed in NSW, and open in Tasmania and the ACT.

Outlets in Victoria, Queensland, and Western Australia will be open, but some will operate within reduced trading hours.

All shops will be open for reduced ours in the NT.

In South Australia, all stores will be closed except for Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Adelaide Rundle Place, Whyalla, Murray Bridge Green, Mount Gambier, Victor Harbor, and Mount Barker.

What’s open on Easter Monday?

Woolworths will open their doors again for NSW, the ACT, Victoria, Western Australia, and Tasmania.

Stores will reopen in Queensland except for Hervey Bay Pialba.

A handful of stores will be open in South Australia and the NT.

Coles will reopen stores in every state and territory except South Australia, though in most areas (NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, and the NT) trading hours will be reduced.

Tasmania and the ACT will trade unrestricted.

South Australian stores will be closed except for Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Adelaide Rundle Place, Whyalla, Murray Bridge Green, Mount Gambier, Victor Harbor, Mount Barker, and Berri.

Aldi outlets will be open in most states and territories, but it will vary store to store in South Australia.

Bunnings stores will be open around the country.
