Education Minister Jason Clare has expressed disappointment over a prominent girls’ school in Brisbane, following the revelation of an internal document where teachers remarked on students’ looks, conduct, and character.

Eleventh-grade students at Somerville House, a historic 126-year-old boarding and day school located in South Brisbane, accidentally discovered a spreadsheet containing these teacher observations.

Subsequently, parents were urged to empathize with the teachers, while students were held accountable for disseminating the document.

The school has postponed exams by a day as it conducts an investigation into the matter.

Clare criticized the school, stating it had not lived up to expectations in this situation.

“They’ve failed the students, and they’ve failed the parents of the kids who go to that school,” he told Weekend Today.

“Schools have got to collect information, but they’ve got to do it in a secure way, and they’ve also got to do it in a professional way.
