A father-of-two who was hit by a car in Melbourne has been remembered as a much-loved father, husband, and uncle.

Anisul Karim, 51, was walking on Heatherton Road, near Matthew Flinders Avenue, in Endeavor Hills about 7.45pm yesterday when he was fatally struck.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, Karim died at the scene.

His grieving loved ones want urgent action to be taken, so no other pedestrians lose their lives crossing the busy road.

“Everybody loves him in the community,” Karim’s friend, Milon Islam told 9News.

“The whole community, the Muslim community is in shock, shattered. He was a very honest and close friend of mine.

“He’s leaving behind his wife, and two young children and they are shattered. They simply cannot process it.”

The female driver stopped to help, with police treating the crash as a tragic accident.

It comes less than a year after another life was lost just up the road.

“It’s really shocking to know that an incident has happened at the same place and the government or the authority has not taken any action,” Islam said.

With two pedestrians killed here in the past eight months, locals say urgent action needs to be taken.

They’re calling for safety upgrades on the 80km/h stretch of road, and want the speed limit reduced.

“No one should go through what we are going through, or what the other family went through,” Islam said.
