The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has reassured the public that a recent incident is believed to be isolated, posing no ongoing threat to the community.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities in Jacksonville are probing a suspected homicide that occurred in the city’s northwest on Monday, as confirmed by the Sheriff’s Office.

During a press briefing, officials detailed that just after 8 a.m., law enforcement officers were dispatched to the 5500 block of Soutel Drive following reports of a shooting at a laundromat. Upon arrival, they discovered a man, approximately in his early 20s, suffering from several gunshot injuries.

Emergency responders from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived shortly thereafter and declared the man deceased at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office shared that the suspect, identified as a black male wearing dark clothing and white shoes, escaped the area in an unknown direction after the shooting. The nature of the connection between the suspect and the victim remains unclear at this time.

The sheriff’s office confirms that while the investigation is underway and multiple witnesses have been detained for questioning, they believe the incident to be isolated and that there is no current danger to the community.
