At about 9.20am yesterday, police were called to Earl Street in Merrylands after reports of a shooting.
Nobody was at home at the time and no injuries were reported.
Police suspect senior alleged Alameddine associate Ali Elmoubayed was the target of the shooting.
He had left home just minutes earlier to attend court in Parramatta to apply for a bail review to change his address.
“The intention was to severely injure, if not kill somebody,” Detective Superintendent Jason Box said yesterday.
A short time after the shooting, a burnt-out Porsche was found in Beverley Crescent, Chester Hill.
A group of people allegedly left Chester Hill in a Hyundai.
PolAir tracked them, before the group reached Yagoona and allegedly tried to flee from police on foot.
They were arrested at about 9.40am on McMahon Road in Yagoona.
Three men, aged 20, 22, and 23, were charged with multiple offences over the shooting incident.
They were refused bail to appear in court today.
At about the same time yesterday, police spotted a Ford Territory allegedly driving erratically before it crashed on Prospect Road in Greystanes.
Two 17-year-old boys who had been in the car were detained by citizens until police arrived and arrested the pair.
Police searched the car and allegedly found and seized jerry cans of fuel and bleach, balaclavas, and a knife.
The teens were charged with a number of offences, including participating in a criminal group.
One of the males was also charged over a separate home invasion in Ermington in February.
They were both refused bail and will appear in court today.
Police continue to investigate whether the Merrylands shooting and the Greystanes crash are linked.
