Dramatic police helicopter vision has captured a lengthy pursuit across Melbourne’s south-east after multiple alleged home invasions overnight.

Five teenagers have been arrested and one has been charged following two aggravated robberies and two attempted break-ins in Melbourne’s bayside.

Police were called after an alleged aggravated burglary on Cluden Street in Brighton East about 2am, where a handbag and a 2025 Porsche Cayenne wagon were stolen.

An attempted home invasion was reported nearby on Dendy Street in Brighton just 15 minutes later.

There was a second alleged attempted home invasion on Thomas Street in Hampton.

A police car was used to stop the allegedly stolen Porsche about 2.30am and two people fled the scene on foot.

A second alleged aggravated burglary also took place at a home on Sargood Street in Hampton about 3.35am.

A red MG was stolen during this incident, police said.

The MG was then followed through several suburbs including Hampton, Brighton and Noble Park, before it travelled onto the Eastlink and Monash Freeway.

Police allege the car clocked speeds of up to 145km/h during the pursuit.

The car was followed back to Bentleigh, where it was dumped on Patterson Road while it was still running.

It came to a stop on the nature strip.

A trio of alleged offenders jumped fences in an attempt to evade police, with one seen climbing onto a roof, before they hid inside a house.

Airwing vision of the police chase has been released which showed the boy climbing on the roof of a home.

Police then arrested a 15-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys.

One of the 16-year-olds was charged with car theft and was remanded to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

Following a search of the Bentleigh home, police arrested two more teenagers.

An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were released with intent to summons.

The arrests were part of Victoria Police’s Operation Trinity, which is targeting burglars and car thieves in Melbourne.

“Police hold serious concerns around children with little to no formal driving experience behind the wheel of stolen vehicles, putting innocent motorists in harm’s way,” Southern Metro Regional Crime Squad Acting Detective Sergeant Lauren Hunt said.

“That is why we are targeting burglars and car thieves every single night as part of Operation Trinity, which has led to 1700 arrests in the past year.”

Hunt urged residents to lock their doors and cars to avoid becoming victims.

“The data tells is undeniable – if you lock your doors, your chances of falling victim dramatically decrease,” she said.
