A grandmother who dedicated her life to her local church and volunteering at a primary school was one of two women killed in a horror crash involving an allegedly stolen car.

Maureen Crosland, aged 84, was on a heartfelt mission with her soon-to-be relative to collect a wedding dress for her granddaughter.

The car was allegedly stolen from a service station in Sydney’s south and police had tracked it for about 40 minutes before the fatal collision.

Tragically, Crosland and her companion, 60-year-old Lee Casuscelli, lost their lives at the scene of the accident.

Crosland, whose granddaughter is engaged to Casuscelli’s son, is fondly remembered for her unwavering commitment to St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Campbelltown. Her passing has left the community heartbroken.

“When I shared the news during Mass this morning, the congregation was visibly moved and shaken,” said Assistant Priest Richard Healey of St John the Evangelist.

“Many were brought to tears by the sheer tragedy of the situation,” he added.

“They were on their way with the mother of the groom to pick up wedding dresses, just devastating.”
