A woman has been charged over the alleged stabbing murder of a mother in Adelaide’s north.

Emergency services were called to a home on Bronte Crescent in Elizabeth East about 6.40pm yesterday after reports of a woman being stabbed.

Officers arrived and found 28-year-old Talulah Koopman with stab wounds to her chest.

She was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where she later died.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Maria Mpawenimana was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with murder.

Police say the pair were known to each other but could not say how.

Locals who knew the pair said Koopman was a mother, while Mpawenimana is believed to be her friend.

“Very shocked, we can’t believe it,” Issach Sube told 9News.

“She’s a good person, outgoing person, and she is very genuine and very nice person.”

“Quite overwhelming, I was pretty concerned about what had happened,” Christopher Barnett said.

Mpawenimana faced Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.

She did not apply for bail and prosecutors asked for six months so that toxicology reports for both her and the victim can be finalised.

She will remain behind bars until November.

Anyone who has any information about the death is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
