Individual Faces Charges of Rape and Attempted Murder on Local Walking Trail

A man has been charged with three counts of rape and one count of attempted murder after an alleged attack on a woman in Rockhampton, Queensland.

Authorities report that a woman was allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted by a man near a well-known walking path at Yeppen Lagoon on Sunday morning around 10:30 a.m.

The incident was brought to the attention of the police approximately an hour later, at 11 a.m., after which the woman was transported to a hospital.

She is currently receiving medical care and support from professionals.

Following the establishment of a crime scene, police reached out to the community for assistance. As a result, a 27-year-old man from Victoria was apprehended and charged at Boat Harbour Drive in Hervey Bay yesterday at 11 a.m.

The suspect was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.

The investigation continues, with police particularly seeking information or vision of a dark blue 2008 Toyota two-door hatchback from the Yeppen Lagoon area around the time of the alleged offence.
