Residents of a South Australian community have been forced to lock themselves inside their homes after a brawl broke out on their street.
The clash between two groups erupted on Railway Terrace in Taperoo, 18 kilometres north-west of the Adelaide CBD, at 8.15pm yesterday.

Connor Milne recounted to 9News that he was at home when an unexpected altercation erupted.

“I was just relaxing, trying to watch a movie and enjoy a few glasses of wine,” Milne shared. “Then suddenly, I hear yelling and commotion.”

He added, “They came running down the street armed with rocks and bats.”

Another resident, Dan Wake, also witnessed the disturbance. “All I heard was shouting and screaming outside,” he said.

Wake expressed his concern, saying, “Take it somewhere else; this is a nice quiet neighborhood.”

Neighbours who watched were confused by the tactics used.

“They weren’t actually fighting,” Milne said.

“They were shadow boxing and moving towards each other.”

Residents said the brawl escalated and some even threw rocks.

Paula Steele was caught in the firing line while standing in her front yard.

“Rocks started flying and it flew, one flew past me and one hit me in the shoulder and bounced off,” Steele said.

Two people were arrested, including a Semaphore Park man and a Taperoo man.

They will face court in six weeks time.
