Homicide squad probes apparent stabbing death at Melbourne bus stop

The homicide squad has been called in to investigate the apparent stabbing death of a man in Melbourne’s outer south-west.

Two offenders remained on the run tonight as detectives set up a crime scene in Wyndham Vale, near Weribbee, and began their investigations.

Emergency services were called to a bus stop near Haines Drive following reports of a fight about 8pm and arrived to find a man with stab wounds.

The homicide squad has been called in to investigate the apparent stabbing death of a man in Melbourne’s outer south-west. (SMH)

They tried to save the man, who is yet to be formally identified, but he died at the scene.

Police said two offenders fled along nearby Vaughn Street before they arrived.

A crime scene was set up at the bus stop as police tried to find the runaways.

They called on anyone with information or relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
