During a meeting at the Israel Defence Forces headquarters in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, Defence Minister Israel Katz declared that Israel’s operation in Iran, referred to as “Roaring Lion,” would continue indefinitely. Katz emphasized that the campaign would persist “until we reach all the goals and decisively win the campaign,” yet he refrained from specifying the military objectives of the operation. Instead, he suggested that the future of Iran ultimately rests with its own citizens.

“We should also continue to do it in order to enable the Iranian people to rise and act, and get rid of this regime. Eventually, it’s up to them,” Katz stated, urging Iranians to take charge of their country’s destiny.

However, the minister’s remarks drew sharp criticism from some political quarters. Yair Golan, the leader of the left-wing Democrats party, took to X, the social media platform, to voice his disapproval.

“A war doesn’t need a time limit, it needs an exit strategy and a minister of defence who isn’t a clown,” Golan asserted. “But for two and a half years, this government has excelled only at one thing – opening fronts – and getting stuck there.”
