A UK judge has issued a warning to women about a serial sperm donor who has fathered more than 180 children worldwide, including in Australia.

Robert Charles Albon, also known as Joe Donor, describes himself online as a “top sperm donor” who can help with a baby “anywhere in the United Kingdom”.

In an interview with The Sun last year, Albon claimed to have fathered 180 children and has met 60 of those.

Albon took a couple from Wales to Cardiff Family Court seeking parental rights but was denied in 2023.

That judgement has now been made public after Jonathan Furness KC ordered Albon’s name to be revealed to protect mothers from his unregulated service.

“They chose a sperm donor who advertised that he would leave it up to the mother as to whether there should be any contact,” the judge said.

“In reality, he is a man who seeks to control.

“Women and children appear to be almost a commodity to him … Argentina, Australia and the UK to name just some of the countries where he has fathered children.

“The public and vulnerable women seeking to get pregnant should know that is the case and they risk a similar ‘horror story’.”

According to local media, the baby at the centre of the case was conceived by syringe injection to a same-sex couple but Albon claims to have personally impregnated the biological mother.

That claim was reportedly refuted by Furness.
