Keith Urban has taken on a new, more humble role as he navigates life on his own after his separation from Nicole Kidman.
The 58-year-old country artist, originally from New Zealand, recently entertained a small audience of just over 1,000 aboard a Bahamas-bound Top Shelf Country Cruise ship.
This American cruise company regularly hires renowned country musicians, such as Riley Green, Chris Young, and Lauren Alaina, to entertain guests with their performances, offering compensation and accommodations in return.
Those close to Keith suggest that he wasn’t particularly thrilled about performing at this smaller venue, given his history of playing at much larger venues.
“During his marriage to Nicole Kidman, Keith would have likely turned down a gig like this,” an insider revealed to New Idea magazine this week.
The move has also sparked questions about Keith’s financial position, despite longstanding reports placing his net worth at more than $100million.Â
Keith Urban has accepted a modest new job as he adjusts to single life following his split from Nicole KidmanÂ
Although Keith and Nicole, 58, managed to reach a divorce settlement which did not include him paying any spousal or child support, the split is still estimated to have been very expensive for both parties.
‘When there’s that much money involved in a split, the lawyers don’t come cheap, regardless of the outcome,’ the source said.
The insider added that regardless of how much his new job pays, it helps keep Keith occupied.
‘Cruise ships are not exactly the dream gig, but they pay the bills – and it gives Keith something to focus on. He’s trying to stay busy now that his divorce is finalised,’ they said.
While there are no details of Keith’s pay for performing on the ship, a musician of his stature could easily demand six figures – especially when passenger tickets were priced between $6,700 – $19,000 for a seven-day cruise.
‘He’s putting a bright spin on everything right now, but singing on a cruise ship is a big change from performing at his own sell-out tour last year,’ they said.Â
‘However, Keith is determined to keep working while he figures out, with his new management team, some exciting plans for the latter part of this year.’
It follows reports that as family and friends rally around Nicole in the wake of her split from Keith, it seems that the country star is leaning into the bachelor life.Â
The New Zealand-born country music singer, 58, recently performed on the Bahamas-bound Top Shelf Country Cruise ship to a crowd of just over 1,000 peopleÂ
Insiders say Keith, who has previously held concerts at much bigger arenas, was not too happy about the gigÂ
According to Woman’s Day, Keith is now living a ‘solitary’ bachelor life in Nashville when he is not spending time with his children – Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15.Â
The publication claims that Keith has cut out everyone that had to do with his past with Nicole.Â
‘He’s now living a life that’s been completely purged of everyone to do with his past life,’ the source said.Â
As part of the divorce, which was finalised in January, Nicole retained the lion’s share of custody of the couple’s kids.
Under the parenting plan, Nicole will spend 306 days a year with her daughters, while Keith will have 59 days.
The last time Keith was seen publicly with his daughters was back in December 2024.Â
