King Charles III will host Donald Trump at Windsor Palace during the US president’s state visit to the United Kingdom in September.

Buckingham Palace confirmed Trump and his wife Melania had accepted an invitation to cross the pond and visit the royal family from September 17 to 19.

King Charles prompted speculation of an impending visit from Trump in February after Prime Minister Keir Starmer delivered an invitation to Trump during a White House state dinner.

“This is really special. This has never happened before. This is unprecedented,” Starmer told Trump when he presented the letter.

“The answer is yes,” Trump had replied.

The king will host the US president and First Lady at Windsor Castle, however, no other details of the visit have been confirmed.

US ambassador to the UK Peter Mandelson told The Sunday Times he believed Trump would be welcomed “warmly” on this next visit.

”He should expect a warm reception because he really does love Britain. He hugely admires it,” he said.

“He trusts Keir Starmer. It’s not a question of expressing our gratitude. My lodestar here is to demonstrate respect, not sycophancy. I don’t think the administration has any problem with that.”

It will mark the first time in history an elected politician has been granted two state visits to the UK, after Trump also visited in 2019 and met with the late Queen Elizabeth II.

At the time, Trump sparked controversy after walking in front of the Queen.

This was interpreted as a breach in royal protocol.

Trump has also been vocal about his fondness for the royal family.

He has previously posted on his Truth Social platform a message which read: “”I Love King Charles.”
