The supermarket giant said in a release it would drop the prices on shelf products by an average of 10 per cent.

Items earmarked for the price drop include bread, chicken schnitzels, and dishwasher pods.

The discounts will begin this Wednesday, May 14, for almost 400 products, including both Woolworths-branded and other items.

The lower prices will continue until “at least 2026”, Woolworths said in its release.

“This isn’t just a short-term promotion; it’s about lower shelf prices on the products we know customers regularly shop, for, and providing genuine, lasting and dependable value they can count on,” Woolworths Group chief executive Amanda Bardwell said.

“We’ve focused on highly rated family favourites – things like Greek yoghurt, frozen berries, chicken schnitzel as well as essentials including flour, bread, rice and nappies.”

She said the list of discounted items would be “expanded” in the coming weeks and months.

“Individually, each lower shelf price might not seem like a dramatic difference but they will add up to real savings,” Bardwell said.

“Families spending $150 on their weekly shop could now save on average around $15 a week when buying Lower Shelf Price products.”
