Activision has officially lifted the lid on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the next entry in the blockbuster FPS franchise.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, the new instalment jumps ahead to the year 2035, blending near-future technology with the franchise’s signature action.

It’s a big change from the previous game, offering a new take on the series and seemingly distancing itself from the competition.

The headline addition is a fully co-op campaign — playable solo or with up to three other players — that introduces a sprawling new hub city, Avalon, and an Endgame mode designed to be replayable well beyond the main story.

Multiplayer launches with 16 6v6 maps, two large-scale 20v20 battlegrounds, and the new Skirmish mode, which mixes wingsuits, grappling hooks, vehicles, and multi-objective battles.

The popular Zombies mode also returns, boasting the biggest map in series history and the revival of Survival maps from previous Black Ops titles.

Black Ops 7 is launching worldwide on November 14 and will also be day one on Game Pass.

COD players can get in early and experience the beta from October 2, with early access for pre-orders and subscribers.

Its reveal comes hot on the heels of the Battlefield 6 beta, which drew major attention and praise for its large-scale destruction and warfare.

With both shooters carving out different identities — Battlefield leaning into all-out sandbox warfare and Black Ops doubling down on narrative-driven co-op and polished multiplayer — the big question for fans is whether Call of Duty can match its rivals’ momentum.
