Footage captured a terrifying arrest outside a youth centre in Melbourne’s north last night.

Mobile phone footage showed police tackling the man to arrest him after he was tasered.

Bystanders appeared to kick the man while he was on the ground, with one pushing a shopping trolley towards him.

The alleged weapon, which 9News understands was wrestled from the man, was visible in the video.

A 43-year-old Craigieburn man has been interviewed by police over the incident.

No charges have been laid.

Police do not believe the incident was religiously motivated.
