Tangey, a beloved burlesque star who performed under the stage name Vivien May-Royale, died when flames engulfed a three-storey home on Dover Street in Truganina about 2am on Thursday.

Two men are believed to have poured accelerant inside the home and started the fire in what police suspect is a case of mistaken identity.

Tangey had been housesitting for her brother Ethan, who had been overseas on honeymoon with his wife Brooke.

Today, the community are supporting Ethan and Brooke rebuild their lives after losing Tangey, their golden retriever Sunny and their home.

“We cannot begin to imagine the pain and suffering both Brooke and Ethan are facing at this difficult time, and everybody who knows them, understands just how loved and cherished they are by everybody around them,” a GoFundMe page set up to support the pair said.

”We are asking all who love them to donate to help them rebuild their lives and help them honour the memories of their beautiful sister Katie and cherished Golden Sunny.”

The fundraiser has so far raised more than $8700, at the time of publishing.

CCTV has been released of the pair parking a dark-coloured car outside the home before getting out and pouring the accelerant into the home.

A fire was seen engulfing the home shortly after.

Tangey, who had been inside the home at the time, rung emergency services to report the fire but died at the scene.

“This individual is completely innocent and should not have died,” Arson and Explosives Squad Detective Inspector Chris Murray told reporters on Thursday.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage, is urged to contact police.
