An unexpected incident involving a bird and a journalist in New Zealand has captured the attention of viewers after being recorded on video.

Jessica Tyson, a journalist from Auckland working for Te Ao with Moana, shared the surprising footage on Instagram. In the clip, she was reporting from Auckland’s central business district when the unforeseen event occurred.

The 32-year-old reporter was in the midst of filming a segment, dressed in a vibrant pink blouse paired with a black skirt, when the bird collided with her, demonstrating that even during a routine report, surprises can happen.

Jessica Tyson, an Auckland-based journalist for Te Ao with Moana, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a clip on Instagram of herself reporting in Auckland’s CBD when the unexpected happened.

The 32-year-old could be seen filming a piece to camera while wearing a bright pink blouse and a black skirt.

Her hair was blowing wildly in the very windy weather as a seagull suddenly smacked into her face, leaving her stunned.

‘Holy s***,’ she could be heard saying as she held her face in her hands.

After noting her eye hurt, her cameraman quickly pointed out: ‘Oh s***, you’re bleeding!’

‘Am I?’ she asked.

Jessica later shared a picture of the damage done by the out-of-control bird, revealing a nasty gash above her eyebrow.

‘POV Just trying to do your job when nature has other plans,’ she wrote over the clip.

The former Miss World NZ added in the caption: ‘The commitment to the job is real! Bird needed @specsaversnewzealand really! @teaowithmoana.’

Jessica’s viral video has gained over 105,000 views and 4,000 likes, with several friends and fans taking to the comments in shock.

‘Oh heeeeelll noooo,’ wrote singer and Australian Idol winner Stan Walker, who is also Tyson’s brother-in-law.

However, Jessica reassured fans she was fine after the ordeal.

‘Everything is fine, just got a little scar above my eye!’ she wrote in response to a comment.
