A man is dead and four people, including two toddlers, have been injured after they were pulled from a burning home in Victoria’s north-west.

Firefighters spent almost half an hour extinguishing the blaze at the single-storey home on Barr Street in Maryborough, north of Ballarat, after it caught fire just after 11.30am.

A man, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

A two-year-old child was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a serious condition and a female in her 70s was taken to Maryborough Public Hospital.

A woman in her 30s and a three-year-old child suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene has been established and an arson chemist will attend the scene later today.
