Two Sydney newlyweds have had a wedding reception entrance that will forever be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

As the bride and groom lit up the dance floor on Saturday night, a floral arrangement went up in flames, triggering the sprinkler system.

A dry sparkular machine is believed to have started the blaze at The Renaissance wedding venue in Lidcombe.

Video shared on TikTok with the ironic caption “the wedding was fire” shows the couple dancing happily as several machines shoot sparks in the background.

Meanwhile flames that took hold on a decorative arch are growing quickly and the drummers and other musicians keep playing.

A second video shows the sprinklers continuing to douse water and the floor looking soaked.

The reception had to be cancelled.
