NSW and Federal Police sent more than 1000 families letters notifying them about the alleged criminal actions of a man who worked with children in Sydney’s north and CBD.

The letter informs families that their child may have crossed paths with the man. It does not mean their children were a victim of him, police said.

2GB’s Ben Fordham reported that over 1000 letters went out to families in Sydney.

The man, who worked in Sydney’s northern suburbs and the CBD, was charged with alleged criminal behaviour offences in October 2024.

He is in custody. His identity, place or places of work and the children involved cannot be identified for legal reasons.

It’s understood that the man has been accused of inappropriate behaviour and allegedly had confronting material on his phone.

“Investigators believe the alleged behaviour of the man involves a very small number of children, however, the parents and carers of any child who may have had contact with the man have received a letter,” an AFP statement said.

The NSW Police are working with several state departments as part of the investigation, including NSW Health, NSW Department of Communities and Justice, NSW Department of Education and the Office of the Children’s Guardian.

The NSW Police Force is assisting the AFP with a comprehensive victim identification process.

Investigators are asking anyone who received the letter to read it carefully and reach out to the hotline included in the letter if they have further questions.
