Two men have been charged after a violent brawl erupted on a Gold Coast street last night. Police said the duo allegedly attempted to break into a Toyota Landscruiser in front of a Jacobs Well home at 8.30pm when the car's owner intervened and confronted the pair.

Two men have been charged after a violent brawl erupted on a Gold Coast street last night.

Police said the duo allegedly attempted to break into a Toyota Landscruiser in front of a Jacobs Well home at 8.30pm when the car’s owner intervened and confronted the pair.

The owner appeared to pull one of the men from the front seat which triggered a brawl on the front lawn.

Neighbours heard the commotion and rushed outside to help.

Before police arrived, the two men left the scene.

Police patrolled the area and arrested two men at a nearby boat ramp.

A 27-year-old man was later charged with unlawful entry of a vehicle and common assault, while a 25-year-old Evans Head man was charged with common assault. 

Both men are expected to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on August 21.
