The distraught family of a unique and prized puppy, suspected to have been taken in Perth, is earnestly seeking his safe return.
Nicquelle Rhodes, a dedicated dog breeder, holds a deep affection for Ra, treating him as though he were her own child.
“He has been with us since birth,” she recounted.
“I personally assisted in his delivery, bringing him into the world from his birth sack.”
Ra disappeared mysteriously from Harrison Road in Mount Richon, alongside three other dogs.
The others were found soon after, but Ra remains missing.
“The fence has actually been bent here as you can see it’s sort of askew now, it’s completely been bent there,” Rhodes said.
Though the animals were first thought to have run away, the family now believes Ra has been stolen.
“He is a pedigree dog from champion bloodlines and I am concerned he’s been taken for greed rather than by someone who intends to love him,” Rhodes said.
The rare puppy with breeding potential could be worth tens of thousands of dollars.
But for Rhodes and her children, he’s invaluable.
“They’ve had anxiety and panic attacks, they’ve been crying,” she said.
There are additional fears that for a dog like Ra’s breed to be out in the heatwave currently affecting Western Australia that it could be deadly.
The family is urging anyone who has the puppy to take him to a vet or pound, not to just let him loose.
“We are offering a reward for his safe return,” Rhodes said.
“Whatever story you want to make up, we don’t care, we just want our puppy home.”
Police are investigating.
