The repair on a burst sewerage pipe in Perth has been delayed again, causing more frustration for those impacted over the past six days.

The Water Corporation today met residents affected by the problem in Spearwood, assuring them it would foot the bill for all the damage caused.

But for some, that’s not enough as they live surrounded by excrement.

“We sniff our own shit enough, we don’t need to sniff other people’s shit,” resident Tammy O’Neil told 9News.

Water Corporation initially said the sewerage pipe that burst on Friday was going to be repaired overnight on Monday. It now says it’s not likely to be completed before this Friday at the earliest.

“This is a particularly complex piece of pipe work that needed to be replaced,” WA Premier Roger Cook said today.

“The early indications were that it wouldn’t take as long as it has to undertake those repairs.”

As Water Corporation’s waste woes drag on, it says its doing all it can to fix the issue.

“We’ve had guys and girls behind me working 24/7 since Friday to make this repair and do it as quickly and safely as possible,” media and external affairs manager Dean Stacey said.

Watsonia Park is now closed indefinitely as the clean up continues at the poo-filled pond.

The Freo Farmers Market and the Fremantle City Football Club have been forced to move their events from Beaconsfield’s Bruce Lee Reserve.

“We’ll work really closely with our regulators and with the community to only reinstate access to those areas when its safe to do so,” Stacey said.
