Police have confirmed a homemade shotgun was fired during an argument between two men at the remote property.

“It’s a handmade shotgun, it’s very well made and it’s something that’s quite concerning,” Gold Coast Police Chief Inspector Les Bulluss said.

“The weapon’s made out of piping.”

9News understands the pair live together on the property.

Police have established a crime scene and believe the shooter remains on the property.

Specialist officers, with assault rifles and heavy armour, and a helicopter are on the scene to search for the man.

Residents are urged to stay indoors and the public is advised to avoid the area.

“We’re treating this matter very seriously but we’d like to have a peaceful resolution,” Bulluss said.
