Police believe a car torched in Sydney‘s west earlier this week is linked to the disappearance of 85-year-old grandfather Chris Baghsarian.

Authorities have revealed that a burnt-out 2022 Toyota Corolla discovered in Westmead last Tuesday night has been connected to a property in Dural. Investigators suspect that individuals involved in the case may have used this location following the abduction incident.

Baghsarian has been unaccounted for over a week after being forcibly taken from his North Ryde residence. Law enforcement officials suggest this kidnapping might have resulted from a case of mistaken identity.

The police suspect the vehicle, with the Victorian license plate 1UZ2BU, was stolen from Victoria prior to Baghsarian’s disappearance.

Authorities continue their search for Baghsarian, who is dependent on daily medication for his well-being.

His family has made an emotional appeal for the safe release of the elderly grandfather, while the police have established Strike Force Chobat to intensify their efforts in resolving the case.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything relating to the kidnapping or witnessed any sort of suspicious activity in the Dural area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
