A police officer and his family have been left shocked after they fell victim to a chilling home invasion in Brisbane’s bayside suburbs overnight.

It’s understood the teenagers targeted multiple homes in Thornlands but failed to break in.

On their fifth attempt, they successfully entered the home where a police officer, his wife and their children were sleeping.

Speaking to media today, Bec said she felt “absolutely” violated.

“This is our safe space, it’s our home,” she said.

“To know that they’ve gone into their bedrooms to take their car keys and other personal items, off their bedside tables is really frightening.”

The offenders fled the scene with four cars, worth an estimated $150,000, along with many belongings.

Ella, who was also inside at the time, said felt like fainting when she discovered the break-in.

“Just to think that like someone can get in your home like that and be right there, I’m glad like nothing happened to me or my family,” she said.

With the criminals coming metres from her sleeping children, Bec said her family has been left terrified.

She said she was grateful the thieves didn’t get their hands on her husband’s uniform.

Two of the family’s cars have been found dumped in a nearby street.

Police are investigating and searching for the group, as well as the two other missing cars.
