Police Officer Faces Charges After Collision Involving Teenagers Riding Trail Bike

A police officer has been charged over his role in a crash with two teenagers on an allegedly unregistered trail bike in Sydney’s north-west.

The senior constable is accused of dangerous and negligent driving, after allegedly using his vehicle to stop the teens in Penrith

The senior constable was patrolling Mulgoa Road about 6.30pm on November 3 after reports of an unregistered trail bike in the area.

Footage taken by the trail bike’s 14-year-old rider showed the police car stopping in front of the trail bike.

The police car and the trail bike then collided.

Two 14-year-old boys were thrown from the bike.

They were treated at the scene, then taken by ambulance to Westmead Children’s Hospital.

After a police investigation, the officer was charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm.

The officer is expected to appear in Penrith Local Court next month.

His driver licence has been suspended, and his employment is under review.
