Security vision captured a young woman bleeding as she stumbled to a bus stop on Churchill Road in Kilburn just before 5am on Monday.
Several drivers stopped to check on the woman, including one man who seemed to startle her and left after a brief interaction.
The woman then walked into a nearby service station and said she had been sexually assaulted.
Detectives shut down part of Churchill Road during the morning peak as they investigated.

Witness Stephen Cooke said the woman was “in tears” and “terrified”.
“She just asked them to call the ambulance,” Cooke said.
Police would like to speak to the driver of a blue station wagon who briefly stopped at the bus stop to check on the woman but left before police arrived.
They are also asking for anyone with dashcam footage or who saw the woman in the early hours of the morning to contact police.
