“Our actions are driven by the desire to save lives and diminish suffering,” the protester expressed in a video shared on Facebook.

“We act because the atrocity of genocide is intolerable.

“We cannot remain passive as lives are unjustly taken.”

Two others, who identified themselves as being from the Northern Rivers Friends of Palestine, appear to have locked themselves to a van.

In the October 7, 2023 attack that sparked the Israel-Hamas war, Hamas-led militants killed some 1200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted 251.

In Israel’s ensuing offensive, large swathes of Gaza have been levelled and most of the territory’s more than two million people have been displaced.

More than 63,000 Palestinians have died, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, around half of whom were women and children.
