An arrest warrant has been issued in Queensland for a man over the death of his support worker, after the suspect was charged with driving offences in New South Wales.

In a tragic turn of events, a 46-year-old woman from Ashgrove was discovered deceased at a property located on Waterford Tamborine Road in Buccan. Authorities made the grim discovery at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Monday.

The woman had been reported missing after she was last seen on Saturday, sparking concern for her safety. Her disappearance prompted an investigation that led to the search of the Buccan residence.

The resident of the property, 36-year-old Wa’el Alfar, was not present when officers arrived. Subsequent efforts by law enforcement to locate him culminated in a dramatic sequence later that day.

Alfar was apprehended near Kempsey in New South Wales around 2 p.m. on Monday. His arrest followed a high-speed police pursuit, during which he is alleged to have engaged in dangerous driving.

He now faces a series of charges, including those related to the reckless operation of a vehicle, as authorities continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the woman’s untimely death.

Police will seek to extradite the man from NSW. (9News)

He is currently in custody in NSW until February 25, when he will be sentenced.

Queensland Police have now issued an arrest warrant for Alfar for the murder of the 46-year-old woman, and will seek his extradition once court matters in NSW are finalised.

The investigation continues.
