Local councils around the country have been given a score out of 100 by ratepayers – and one regional city emerged as the top performer in Australia.

Smart city tech platform Snap Send Solve analysed data from incident reports to gauge the satisfaction levels from residents across issues like roads, parking, waste and graffiti.

The City of Mandurah in Western Australia was named the best in the country, with a rating of 67.4 per cent.

Whitehorse in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne was rated third in the country at 66.8 per cent.

Several NSW councils ranked the lowest in the country with a rating of about 60 per cent.

The national average council rating was 61 per cent.

Melbourne City Council was the only metropolitan city council to make it into the top 20 list.

Snap Send Solve’s community satisfaction report combined 13,700 survey responses and ratings from about 70,000 app users.

The app allows ratepayers and residents to take a photo of an issue and report it to the council in real-time.

It helps councils fix issues like potholes, overhanging trees, cracked sidewalks or overflowing public rubbish bins.

The app also promises to help with duplicate reports.

Glen Eira City Council in Victoria claimed it saved $88,000 in potential duplicate reports, avoiding costly labour, operational and contractor fees.
