Massive bull shark caught off Queensland coast

A group of friends fishing off the coast of Bribie Island in Queensland recently made an extraordinary catch, reeling in a massive bull shark measuring three meters in length.

The fishermen, who regularly cast their lines in these waters, were astounded by the size of their catch, claiming it to be the largest they’ve ever encountered.

As they struggled to bring the colossal creature aboard, one could hear their astonishment in the exclamations of “Jeez, that’s a big boy,” capturing the excitement of the moment.

The mates fish frequently but say the catch is by far the biggest they’ve ever landed. (Nine)

The dramatic capture unfolded over half an hour, with the shark putting up a fierce fight after taking the bait.

Recalling the intense battle, fisherman Jackson Fraser described the experience, saying, “It just took off, like a train, man.”

“And yeah, it was just incredible.”

Fraser said it was the first shark caught by the mates that had broken the 10-foot mark.

“I knew it was big from the start,” he said.

“It just kept going and going and finally turned its head and just started pumping it in.”

Experts say it’s no surprise in bull shark season.

“Any shark over two metres is big, any shark over three metres is particularly big,” Associate Professor Daryl McPhee, of Bond University, said.

“So it’s certainly a large shark.”

The mates snagged a few photos before safely releasing the beast back into the blue.

“Ended up tagging it, it was a big pregnant bull,” Fraser said.
