Passengers have had to swim to safety after surviving a seaplane crash off Hamilton Island in Queensland.
The plane crashed into the water near Airport Drive about 12.54pm, a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said.
Six occupants of the plane managed to free themselves and did not have any reported injuries.
In a statement, Hamilton Island said the plane experienced difficulty shortly after taking off.

“A seaplane taking off from Hamilton Island Airport this afternoon experienced difficulties, resulting in a precautionary landing,” the statement said.
“The six passengers on board and the pilot were not injured and the airport sustained minor damage.
“Hamilton Island Airport was closed for a short period of time and has now reopened.”
Investigations are underway into the cause of the incident.
