Police are calling for witnesses after a man stabbed, physically assaulted and dragged a woman along a footpath in the Northern Territory on Tuesday.Police released CCTV images of a car this morning which was seen in the area at the time of the assault.
A spokesperson said police do not believe the vehicle's occupants were involved in the incident but believe they could assist with ongoing enquiries.

Police are searching for witnesses after a man allegedly stabbed, physically assaulted and dragged a woman along a footpath in the Northern Territory on Tuesday.
Residents reported blood found on the pavement outside an office building on Bagot Street in The Gap in Alice Springs at 10.45am.

Police reviewed the CCTV footage and observed a man allegedly stabbing the woman with an unknown object and physically assaulting her multiple times at 4.45am.

The victim was allegedly dragged from the area by the offender towards Tuncks Road.

“Investigations have commenced and police hold concerns for the welfare of the victim,” a spokesperson said.

The man is described as being shirtless, wearing black shorts, black shoes and a light-coloured hat.

The woman is described as wearing a light-coloured long-sleeved jumper, light-coloured pants, light-coloured shoes with her hair tied up in a bun or ponytail.
